Technical SEO Audit Service that finds what is holding your website back

Technical SEO is the foundation of your website’s health. If search engines cannot crawl, index and rank your pages properly, the money you spend on backlinks, content and other SEO work can be wasted.

Search engines need a fast, healthy and well-structured website. Is your website ready?

Why technical SEO matters

You can rank first and still lose the customer

Imagine your website reaches the first page of Google for a keyword you worked hard to target. A potential customer sees your result and clicks it.

Then the page takes too long to load. They wait a moment, lose patience and go back to the results. They never see your service, your prices or your contact form. You earned the click and lost the customer, because of a poor website experience.

That is one technical problem. Others are harder to notice. A page that search engines cannot crawl will not be indexed. A page that is not indexed cannot rank at all. A layout that breaks on phones turns visitors away. Each of these quietly reduces what your website can earn from search.

A technical SEO audit finds these barriers before they cost you more visitors.

Your page ranks on the first page for a target keyword.
A potential customer clicks your result.
The page loads slowly. Nothing useful appears yet.
They go back and open a competitor instead.
You lose a potential customer who never saw your offer.

Crawling

Search engines discover pages by following links. Blocked sections, broken links and messy redirects stop them from reaching your content.

Indexing

Only indexed pages can appear in search. Wrong noindex tags, duplicate pages and canonical errors keep good pages out.

Usability

Slow pages, layout shifts and mobile problems frustrate real visitors, whatever position you rank in.

Conversion opportunities

Every visitor who leaves early is an enquiry or sale you had a chance to win. A healthy site keeps that chance open.

An honest note. Fixing technical issues does not guarantee a ranking or a sales figure. It removes the barriers that stop your other SEO work from paying off, and it gives search engines and visitors a website that works properly.
Warning signs

Signs your website needs a technical SEO audit

If you recognise two or more of these, a technical problem is probably involved.

Your organic traffic dropped and you cannot explain why.
New pages take weeks to appear in Google, or never appear.
Google Search Console shows a growing list of pages that are not indexed.
Your pages feel slow, especially on mobile data.
You redesigned or migrated the website and rankings fell afterwards.
You publish content and build links, but rankings do not move.
Visitors or customers report broken pages and error messages.
Nobody has checked the technical health of the site in the last year.
What we check

Technical SEO issues we find and fix

Our technical SEO audit service covers 20 areas. For each one, here is what the issue means and why fixing it helps.

Website Speed Optimization

Heavy images, unused code and slow server responses make pages load late.

Why fix it: Faster pages keep visitors on the site and make crawling more efficient.

Core Web Vitals

Google’s measures of loading (LCP), responsiveness (INP) and visual stability (CLS).

Why fix it: Passing them means a smoother experience on real devices.

Crawling and Indexing Errors

Pages that search engines cannot reach, or reach and decide not to index.

Why fix it: Your important pages become eligible to appear in search.

XML Sitemap Problems

Sitemaps that are missing, outdated or full of redirected and broken URLs.

Why fix it: Search engines get a clean list of the pages that matter.

Robots.txt Issues

Rules that block important pages, or leave private areas open to crawlers.

Why fix it: Crawlers spend their time on the right parts of the site.

Broken Links and 404 Errors

Links that lead to pages that no longer exist.

Why fix it: Visitors and crawlers stop hitting dead ends, and link value is kept.

Redirect Chains and Loops

Several redirects in a row, or redirects that send users in a circle.

Why fix it: One clean redirect loads faster and passes signals properly.

Canonical Tag Issues

Missing, conflicting or wrong canonical tags that point to the wrong version of a page.

Why fix it: Search engines know which URL you want to rank.

Duplicate Content

The same or very similar content available at more than one URL.

Why fix it: Ranking signals are consolidated on one page instead of being split.

Mobile SEO Problems

Text that is too small, buttons too close together and content wider than the screen.

Why fix it: Google indexes the mobile version first, so mobile health matters most.

HTTPS and Security Issues

Expired certificates, mixed content and pages still served over HTTP.

Why fix it: Browsers stop showing warnings that scare visitors away.

URL Structure

Long, unclear URLs with parameters, mixed cases or inconsistent slashes.

Why fix it: Clean URLs are easier to crawl, share and understand.

Internal Linking and Orphan Pages

Important pages with few internal links, or none at all.

Why fix it: Authority flows to key pages and orphan pages become discoverable.

Schema Markup Errors

Structured data that is invalid, incomplete or does not match the page.

Why fix it: Valid schema makes pages eligible for rich results.

Missing or Duplicate Meta Tags

Pages without titles or descriptions, or many pages sharing the same ones.

Why fix it: Each page sends a clear, unique signal and a better search snippet.

JavaScript Rendering Issues

Content or links that only appear after scripts run, which crawlers may miss.

Why fix it: Key content becomes visible to search engines without relying on scripts.

Website Architecture

Important pages buried many clicks deep, with no clear hierarchy.

Why fix it: A logical structure helps users and crawlers find pages quickly.

Image Optimization

Oversized files, old formats, missing dimensions and missing alt text.

Why fix it: Lighter images load faster and can appear in image search.

Pagination and Faceted Navigation

Filters and page numbers that create thousands of near-identical URLs.

Why fix it: Crawl budget goes to useful pages instead of endless combinations.

International SEO and Hreflang

Where relevant: wrong or missing hreflang tags on multi-language sites.

Why fix it: Each country and language sees the correct version of a page.

What we can fix depends on your platform. We audit every item above on any website, then implement the fixes your platform allows us to make. Some issues, such as server speed or custom-coded templates, may need your host or developer, and we tell you clearly when that is the case. See the pricing section for the exact scope. How it works

Our audit and fixing process

Six steps, in order. We deal with the most damaging problems first, apply the right fix and then check that it worked.

Website crawlWe crawl your site the way a search engine does and collect every URL, status code, tag and link.
Technical analysisWe review the crawl with Search Console and speed data to find what is really wrong.
Issue prioritizationEach issue is ranked as critical, high, medium or low, by its effect on crawling, indexing and users.
Fix implementationCritical issues come first. We apply the fixes within scope and document each change.
Re-crawlWe crawl the site again to confirm the fixes worked and nothing else broke.
Final reportYou receive a clear report: what we found, what we fixed and what is left.
How issues are ranked in your report
CriticalStops pages from being crawled or indexed. Fixed first.
HighHurts speed, usability or important pages.
MediumWeakens signals, such as duplicate titles or thin links.
LowGood practice to tidy up when time allows.
The final audit report

What you receive in the final audit report

A report you can read without a technical background, and that a developer can act on straight away.

  • A plain-English summary of your website’s technical health
  • Every issue found, ranked from critical to low
  • The affected URLs for each issue
  • What each issue means and why it matters
  • The recommended fix for each issue
  • A record of every fix we implemented
  • Re-crawl results that show what changed
  • A list of anything that needs your host or developer
Pricing

$50 for WordPress. $199 for everything else.

  • XML sitemap and robots.txt corrections
  • Indexing settings, canonical tags and meta tags
  • Broken links and redirect clean-up
  • Schema markup corrections
  • Image compression and alt text
  • Caching and speed settings

Not included

Custom theme or plugin development, redesigns, hosting or server changes, and paid plugin licences. If an issue needs one of these, we explain it in the report so your developer or host can handle it.

Shopify, Wix, Webflow, custom and more

Non-WordPress Websites

$199 one-time

Included for $199

  • A full crawl of your website
  • Checks across all 20 technical areas
  • Issues ranked from critical to low
  • Affected URLs for each issue
  • A recommended fix for every issue
  • Fixes your platform lets us make
  • Re-crawl and final audit report

Limitations

Platforms such as Shopify, Wix and Webflow limit what can be changed, and custom-built sites vary widely. We fix what the platform settings and our access allow. Custom development, redesigns, and hosting or server changes are not included. Anything we cannot fix is explained in the report for your developer.

Why does WordPress cost less? WordPress is the platform we work in every day, so we can audit it and apply fixes quickly. Other platforms take more time and have more restrictions. To do the fixes, we need admin access to your website. Not sure which platform you use? Send us your URL and we will tell you.
First things first

Why fixing technical SEO should come before scaling SEO

Content, backlinks and digital PR all send value to your pages. If those pages are slow, blocked or duplicated, much of that value is lost on arrival.

Think of it as a building. You would not add new floors to a house with a cracked foundation. In the same way, it makes little sense to pay for links to a page that Google cannot index, or to publish articles on a site that takes too long to load.

Fix the foundation first. After that, every article you publish and every link you earn has a fair chance to work. When you are ready to grow, our SEO services, SEO content writing services and digital PR build on a website that is ready for them.

FAQ

Technical SEO audit service questions, answered

What website owners ask us before they request an audit.

A technical SEO audit service checks how well search engines can crawl, index and understand your website, and how well it performs for visitors. It covers speed, Core Web Vitals, indexing, sitemaps, redirects, canonicals, mobile usability, security and structured data, then ranks the problems by priority.
A technical audit looks at the health of the website itself. A full SEO audit also reviews content, keywords, backlinks and competitors. Technical issues come first because they affect everything else.
For WordPress websites, the technical SEO audit and fixes cost $50. For non-WordPress websites, the price is $199. Both are one-time prices, with no subscription.
A full crawl, checks across all 20 technical areas, a prioritized list of issues with the affected URLs, the fixes within scope, a re-crawl to confirm them and the final audit report. Custom development, redesigns, hosting changes and paid plugin licences are not included.
Yes, as far as the platform allows. Hosted platforms restrict some settings, and custom-built sites vary. We fix what the platform and our access permit, and the report explains anything that needs a developer.
For the audit, your website URL is enough. Access to Google Search Console gives us better indexing data. For the fixes, we need an admin login, which you can remove once the work is done.
It depends on the size of the website. A small site is quicker than a store with thousands of URLs. We confirm the timeline when you send us your URL, before any work starts.
We make changes carefully and re-crawl the site afterwards to confirm nothing else broke. We also recommend that you have a recent backup before any technical work, which most hosts provide.
The usual causes are oversized images, too many plugins or scripts, no caching and slow hosting. The audit identifies which ones affect your site. Some we can fix in WordPress, while slow hosting needs your host or a hosting change.
They are three Google measurements of real user experience: Largest Contentful Paint (loading), Interaction to Next Paint (responsiveness) and Cumulative Layout Shift (visual stability). They are part of how Google evaluates page experience.
Common reasons include a noindex tag, a robots.txt block, a canonical tag pointing elsewhere, duplicate or thin content, or no internal links to the page. The audit checks each page against these causes.
Crawling is when a search engine visits and reads a page. Indexing is when it stores that page so it can appear in results. A page must be crawled before it can be indexed, and indexed before it can rank.
It can, when technical problems are what is holding pages back, but we do not guarantee rankings. The audit removes barriers. Rankings also depend on content, competition and links.
Once or twice a year suits most websites, and again after any redesign, migration or major plugin or theme change. Large or frequently updated sites benefit from more regular checks.
The audit is a one-time service. For ongoing work, our WordPress SEO services and SEO services include continuous technical monitoring alongside content and on-page work.
It opens with a plain-English summary, then lists every issue by priority with the affected URLs, an explanation and the recommended fix. It also records what we fixed and the re-crawl results.
Mainly Screaming Frog for crawling, Google Search Console for indexing data, PageSpeed Insights for speed and Core Web Vitals, and Semrush for site health checks. We review the results manually, because tools often flag things that do not matter.
Yes. For very large websites, tell us the approximate number of pages when you get in touch, so we can confirm the scope and timeline with you before we start.
Usually not, because we implement the fixes within scope ourselves. Issues that need custom code or server changes do need a developer or your host, and the report marks which ones those are.
Send us your website URL through the contact page and tell us whether it runs on WordPress. We reply within 24 hours and confirm the scope and timeline before any work starts.
